X-Building in Bahagia #12 - Hacking to start

Bahagia Renovation
Temporary Notice of Renovation Works pasted on the glass window. The renovation can officially begin from 14th April to 16th April (3 days). We will start on 15th Tuesday and have a move-in ceremony (动土仪式) before that.

Christina seemed to have already briefed the contractor on what's to be done. There were markings and crosses on the walls and they're going to be hacked away soon!

Backyard

From a covered backyard. Neighbour covered their own backyard with yellow canvas. The contractors have sinced nailed another blue one there. Sorry neighbours, gotta put up with the noise and dust!

Bedrooms

Going to the bedrooms. The entire row of old cupboards go...

.. and drawers taken off.

A closer look at the plywood that was ripped off from the cupboards.

An interesting discovery in the 2nd bedroom:

The cupboards in the 2nd bedroom were already gone. And we observed the layers of flooring. There is an un-tiled version of what looks like thin pieces of laminates on the cement floor - those that you see in very very old houses and this should look like how it was originally 35 years ago. The previous owner (who is also the 2nd owner of the house) overlaid the original flooring with tiles and stayed here for another 17 years.

The previous owner didn't even hack away the original skirting. You can see 2 skirtings in the rooms now. Oh no I feel like an archaeologist.

On the left, you can see the uneven walls. Bare to the bone. And do you know how much it cost to plaster away all these uneven walls? 2,000 dollars! *heart aching* On the right is the ceiling board - I think they made a small hole, pushed it up and see what's up there.

And of course, the doors go.

Almost everything will go. You'll see soon.

Staircase

This is my first picture on the dark and narrow staircase (even though I posted one up of the side view in my previous post)
